A New York New Year

After we left Jay and Mary Ann's, we headed to New York! Dave surprised me and the kids with a trip to New York as a Christmas gift! We had the time of our lives. I had never been to New York. Dave had College buddies that live there whom we also visited!

SURPRISE! We are going to New York!

To sum up the trip....TONS OF WALKING and TONS OF FUN!!!!!

DAY 1:

When we arrived in New York, we dropped our bags at The Marriot on 53rd and immediately started exploring and walking! We had dinner at Rockefellar Plaza at the restaurant on the ice rink! Saw the beautiful tree in the plaza, walked to Times Square, Radio City Music Hall and FAO Schwarz - We had an awesome start but it was only the beginning....

DAY 2:

The morning of Day 2 we woke up and had New York Bagels and coffee and headed to see the ROCKETTES. I danced my entire life and I started taking Katrina to dance classes when she was 5 years old. I have such an appreciation for dance and seeing the Rockettes was a dream. I got choked up thinking about Dave having planned this entire trip for us. SO FUN! After lunch we went to the 9/11 memorial. It was a beautiful tribute to all that died in the 9/11 terrorist attack in NY. The viewing was eerily quiet and just knowing that we were standing at ground zero gave me chills. God bless all the men, women and children who died in those attacks. That was a great experience for the kids to see. Seeing the Freedom Tower was a sign of this countries resilience...it will be a beautiful building when completed and so meaningful. What an impact. We walked to see the Statue of Liberty and then we then took a short break at the hotel, freshened up and went to Brennan's for dinner with Crusher and Pete. Pete, Crusher and Brennan are college buddies of Dave. Seeing them and their families was lovely and we had a nice night in Brooklyn.

Inside Radio City Music Hall- Second Level First row...no one in front of us so we had great seats!

DAY 3: New Years Eve

This day may be one of my most favorite days of the trip! We started out at a fun diner for breakfast. The famous American Girl Doll store is in Chicago and New York and Katrina LOVED every second of buying American girl doll clothes and accessories at the store. She had a ball. We then took Miles to the Lego store- it was actually smaller than we thought but was cool to see! We headed to St. Patricks Cathedral which was probably the most beautiful churches I have ever been in. I have been in to many churches but none like that...though going under renovation it was still gorgeous! Katrina and I lit a candle and prayed for baby Baker etc. We bought tickets to go to the NBC Observation Deck which people said was a better view of the city than the Empire State building. We had lovely views of the city and saw the Empire State building clear as day so it's better! That was so fun. Then it was off to Central Park! Central Park was one of my high lights! I loved it. What a beautiful park in the city! We took a carriage ride and had a ball. After a short break at the hotel we got ready for a nice dinner at Sea Fire Grill. It was delicious. We had surf n turf...YUMMY! Then we walked the city with crowds of people! Seeing the crowds and hearing the drunk talk at nearly 9pm, after walking the city for the entire day and celebrating, we decided taking the kids into a crowd of an obscene amount of people may not be the best idea. We walked back to the hotel after buying tons of junk food and watched the ball drop in our warm cozy beds!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Awe, so fun!

Katrina was waving to everyone as though we were in a parade! Just as she waved to EVERY limo thinking it was Justin Bieber!

DAY 4: New Years Day!

We wrapped up our trip with a trip to the Brooklyn Bridge and SOHO! We walked the city blocks and had a blast seeing MORE of the city. Shopping, taking pictures on the bridge and even leaving our mark in writing that we were there! We stopped by NYU and had to see Time Square again on New Years Day; we could not believe how fast they cleaned it up!

on way to Brooklyn Bridge- I love this picture of Miles
